To our supporters,
A huge overhaul of Sierra Leone's education system is underway. Broken by the decade-long civil war and then battered by the effects of the 2014 Ebola outbreak, it has been slowly recovering.
An especially serious challenge that continues to plague Sierra Leone is the issue of girls’ education. Although girls’ educational access is improving, class completion remains scarce with high dropout rates and consistently low enrollment in secondary school.
An educated girl is likely to increase her personal earning potential, as well as reduce poverty in her community. (e.g. According to the World Bank, the return on one year of secondary education for a girl correlates with as high as a 25% increase in wages later in life.)
SJSSAA is on a mission to improve female education by promoting the advancement of St. Joseph’s Secondary School for girls, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, through fundraising, providing scholarship opportunities, and funding needed programs.
On behalf of the members of the SJSSAA southeastern branch. We appreciate your support and generous contributions as we work towards achieving the objectives of our mission.
Thank you so much for visiting our website and we look forward to seeing you at our events.
