Dear Alumni, Students, Families, and Friends,

It is with immense pride and heartfelt gratitude that I join our global community in celebrating the 160th Anniversary of the Saint Joseph’s Secondary school, Freetown Sierra Leone.  For generations, our school has stood as a beacon of learning, leadership, and character — shaping girls into women who continue to make meaningful contributions across the world.

This milestone invites us to honor the past while embracing the promise of the future. It is  in the spirit of the teachers who inspired us, the classmates who became friends, and the alumni whose achievements continue to elevate our legacy. Each of us carries a piece of this school’s story, and together we form a powerful, enduring network rooted in shared values and purpose represented by our pink and blue — colors that symbolize tradition and resilience.

As we commemorate 160 years of excellence, we also look boldly toward the future. Our Anniversary initiatives — from acts of service to fundraising efforts and community engagement — reflect our chapter’s commitment to ensuring that the next generation of students receives the same strong foundation that shaped us.

In March 2025, our Chapter proudly funded and donated a 20KVA solar system to the school. During my presentation to the proprietor, the Archbishop of Freetown, Most Reverend Edward Tamba Charles, I emphasized that “by equipping Saint Joseph’s with solar energy capability, we are laying the foundation for quality distance and online learning on our school’s campus.”

This system included four 5KVA solar generators, providing reliable power to the classrooms, library, media center, laboratories, and other essential facilities. In addition, we installed four solar streetlights fitted with security cameras, enhancing safety and wellbeing for our students.

We will continue to give back, to strengthen our school, and to build a legacy worthy of the next 160 years.

To every alum who continues to support, volunteer, mentor, and uplift our school community, thank you. Your dedication keeps our traditions alive and fuels the progress ahead. I invite all of you to join us throughout this anniversary year as we celebrate our history, deepen our connections, and build a future that honors the spirit of  our motto “Esto Fidelis – Be thou Faithful”.

I’ve been truly honored to serve as your President for the last 4 years and look back with pride on all we’ve achieved together.  I hope these celebrations encourage you to want to serve and inspire us to dream even bigger for the years ahead. Esto Fidelis!
